Prof. Chinedum Uzoma Nwajiuba is the Chair, West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adopted Land Use(WASCAL), Governing Board and Nigeria's representative on the Board.
He holds a PhD, a Master's degree, and a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, as well as a Master's degree in Development Economics.
He was Vice Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo, Ebonyi State, Nigeria from 2016 to 2021. He began his academic career at the Micheal Opkara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in the 1995/1996 session.
Prof Nwajiuba served as Dean of the school of postgraduate studies at Imo State University from 2011 to 2016, and held roles such as Head of Department of Agricultural Economics, Director of Information and Communication Technology, and Director of Academic Planning.
Prof. Nwajiuba has been involved in various capacities at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital and has worked as an Adjunct Lecturer, External Examiner, and Assessor for professional promotions. He served as Executive Director of Nigerian Environmental Study Action Team(NEST) and coordinated the Building Nigeria's Response to Climate Change (BNRCC) project, collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Environment. He was part of the Federal Government's team at the UNFCCC Conference of Parties and delegate to the 2014 National Conference. He has also served on the Board of the National Agricultural Seeds Council.
Prof. Nwajiuba has an impressive array of publications with contributions to national and international journals .His recent works includes but not limited to assessment of Nigeria's green economy and climate - smart agriculture in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Democratic Republic of Congo. He is an Associate Editor and Reviewer for multiple academic journals.
Prof. Nwajiuba speaks Igbo, English, German, and fair French.
